XOOM, INC. v. IMAGELINE, INC., 02-1121
Defendant owned copyright in a computer program and database related to clip art images and in underlying works, thus registration of copyrights permitted an infringement action on the underlying parts, whether new or pre-existing. Defendant is entitled to a maximum of two awards of statutory damages under the Copyright Act.
