United States Supreme Court

Trump v. Hawaii, 17-965

Reversed and remanded. President Trump sought to deny foreign nationals from specific countries, Chad, Iran, Iraq, Libya, North Korea, Syria Venezuela, and Yemen entry into the US. The State of Hawaii brought suit to block the ban, which they alleged was largely based on religious grounds. The US Supreme Court has now held that the president has exercised a lawfully granted power under 8 USC section 1182 and 1185(a) to enforce the ban.
