United States Supreme Court

Collins v. Virginia, 16-1027

Reversing and remanding the denial of a motion to suppress evidence where a policeman, having seen a motorcycle that matched the description of a stolen vehicle and had been used in two traffic incidents that had appeared on the defendant's Facebook posts entered the curtilage of his home and lifted a tarp on the motorcycle to view the plates, because the automobile exception to the Fourth Amendment doesn't permit the warrantless entry into a home or its curtilage in order to search a vehicle therein.
