United States Supreme Court

Murr v. Wisconsin, 15-214

In a case in which landowners characterized the merger of adjacent lots and a prohibition against their separate sale as a regulatory taking that deprived them of their rights, the State Court of Appeals' decision -- holding that the takings analysis properly focused on the lots in question and that, using that framework, the merger regulations did not effect a taking -- is affirmed where the State Court of Appeals was correct to analyze petitioners' property as a single unit in assessing the effect of the challenged governmental action.
