United States Supreme Court

Morse v. Frederick, 06-278

Schools may take steps to safeguard those entrusted to their care from speech that can reasonably be regarded as encouraging illegal drug use. Thus, school officials in the case at hand did not violate the First Amendment by confiscating a banner stating "BONG HiTS 4 JESUS" and suspending the student responsible for it.
