Credit Acceptance Corp. v. Westlake Servs., 2016-2001

In an appeal of the final written decision of the Patent Trial and Appeal Board in a Covered Business Method (CBM) review proceeding involving a patent that includes both system and method claims directed to providing financing for allowing a customer to purchase a product selected from an inventory of products maintained by a dealer, the Board's decisions are affirmed where: 1) defendant was not estopped from maintaining CBM review of those claims under 35 U.S.C. section 325(e)(1); and 2) certain claims are directed to patent-ineligible subject matter under 35 U.S.C. section 101.
