United States Federal Circuit

Prism Technologies LLC v. Sprint Spectrum, LP, 2016-1456

In an infringement action involving patents which claim and describe methods and systems for managing access to protected information provided over certain networks that, the parties agree, must be 'untrusted' networks, the district court's judgment -- entering jury verdict awarding damages to plaintiff, denying defendant's post-trial motions, and denial of plaintiff's motion for additional monetary relief for times after the period plaintiff said was covered by the jury verdict -- is affirmed, where the district court did not abuse its discretion in finding that the jury's award included compensation for 'future' and 'ongoing' infringement and plaintiff was therefore not entitled to the additional monetary relief it sought.
