United States Federal Circuit
Synopsys, Inc. v. Mentor Graphics Corp., 2014-1516
In an appeal of a final decision of the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (Board) in an inter partes review of claims of a patent claiming a method for tracing bugs, i.e. errors in coding, in the design of computer chips, the Board's findings are affirmed where: 1) it did not err in its ruling that certain claims were invalid; 2) the final order of the Board need not address every claim raised in the petition for review; and 3) the Board did not err in denying Mentor's motion to amend.
