United States Federal Circuit

TriVascular, Inc. v. Samuels, 2015-1631

In an appeal of the Patent Trial and Appeal Board holding that appellant failed to satisfy its burden of proving that the challenged claims of a patent, involving inventions in the field of intraluminal stent technology, are invalid as obvious, the Board's conclusion is affirmed where its findings regarding the lack of a sufficient motivation to combine and the lack of a reasonable expectation of success in combining the prior art are supported by substantial evidence.
