United States Federal Circuit

ABT Systems, LLC v. Emerson Electric Co., 14-1618

In an infringement case involving a patent relating to heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, the district court's rulings on damages and denial of motion for judgment as a matter of law (JMOL) that certain claims of the patent are invalid by reason of obviousness, are reversed where the court erred in denying defendant's motion for JMOL of invalidity, vacated as to judgment of infringement, and remanded for dismissal of the complaint.
