Smith & Nephew, Inc. v. Rea, 12-1343
A decision of the Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences that certain claims of a patent owned by defendant Synthes, related to a system for using plates to repair bone fractures in long bones, would not have been obvious and therefore were not invalid is reversed, where plaintiff met its burden and has shown that the claims at issue would have been obvious.
