Judgment that certain of defendant's systems infringed claims of plaintiff's patent related to a system for activating multifunction cards using a point-of sale terminal, and that these claims were not invalid is: 1) affirmed in part, as to a) the judgment of no invalidity, b) the judgment of infringement with regard to defendant's miscellaneous systems based on the district court's discovery sanction, and c) the judgment of non-infringement with regard to defendant's SafeNet systems based on the license defense; but 2) reversed in part, as to the jury's finding of infringement with regard to defendant's Walgreens and EWI systems.
