United States Federal Circuit

Akamai Technologies, Inc. v. Limelight Networks, Inc., 09-1372

In a suit for infringement of a patent that covers a method for efficient delivery of web content, district court's judgment in favor of the defendants is reversed and remanded, as the decision in BMC Resources, Inc. v. Paymentech, L.P., which held that in order for a party to be liable for induced infringement, some other single entity must be liable for direct infringement is overruled, as all steps of a claimed method must be performed in order to find induced infringement, but it is not necessary to prove that all the steps were committed by a single entity.
