Bancorp Serv., L.L.C. v. Sun Life Assurance Co. of Canada, 11-1467

In a patent infringement suit involving specifications disclosing systems and methods for administering and tracking the value of life insurance policies in separate accounts, district court's grant of summary judgment of invalidity in favor of the defendant is affirmed where: 1) the district court correctly treated the system and method claims at issue as equivalent for purposes of patent eligibility under section 101; and 2) the district court did not err in holding that the asserted claims are invalid as the claims are directed to no more than a patent-ineligible abstract idea.
