United States Federal Circuit
Campbell Pet Co. v. Miale, 2008-1109
In an action seeking a declaratory judgment of noninfringement of patents for mobile folding stretchers for transporting injured animals, dismissal for lack of personal jurisdiction is reversed where the presence of defendant-patent owner in the State of Washington and her activities there relating to the enforcement of her patents were sufficient to allow a federal district court in that state to exercise in personam jurisdiction over the defendants, a California corporation and a California resident.
