United States Federal Circuit

Acco Brands, Inc. v. ABA Locks Mfr. Co., Ltd., 06-1570

In a suit over infringement of patents for computer locking mechanisms, judgment of induced infringement for plaintiff is reversed where there was insufficient evidence concerning the threshold requirement of direct infringement to support the jury's verdict on induced infringement. The court's judgment with respect to willfulness, enhanced damages, and attorney fees is therefore vacated, although the remainder of the decision is affirmed.
