United States DC Circuit
US v. Gewin, 05-3086
108-month sentence with three years supervised release, $1.9 million restitution, plus a six-figure fine after conviction of conspiracy to commit securities fraud and related counts is affirmed over claims that the district court erroneously: 1) allowed defendant to represent himself at trial without finding he knowingly and intelligently waived his right to counsel; 2) admitted statements of defendant's co-conspirators over hearsay objections; and 3) imposed the fine.
