United States DC Circuit

US v. WHITMORE, 03-3022

District court committed reversible error in prohibiting cross-examination of the arresting officer about certain instances of past conduct under Federal Rule of Evidence 608(b). Defendant was thereby deprived of any genuine opportunity to challenge the credibility of the sole witness to the firearm offense.
