United States DC Circuit

US v. BARNES, 01-3048

A conviction for assault under D.C. Code section 22-504(a) constitutes a "misdemeanor crime of domestic violence" under 18 U.S.C. section 921(a)(33)(A), and thus serves as a predicate offense for a conviction under 18 U.S.C. section 922(g)(9), which makes it unlawful for a person convicted of domestic violence to possess firearms or ammunition.
