United States Ninth Circuit
Stillaguamish Tribe of Indians v. State of Washington, 17-35722
Held that no subject matter jurisdiction existed over a Native American tribe's lawsuit against the State of Washington. Concluded that the tribe had improperly tried to "engineer" federal jurisdiction over what was a state law dispute. Reversed a summary judgment ruling in favor of the tribe in a case involving liability for landslide damage.
