United States Ninth Circuit
Atenia-Lorenzo v. Sessions, 15-70814
Granted a lawful permanent resident's petition for review of a decision ordering him removed from the United States. The Philippines citizen, who had pleaded nolo contendere to California charges of possession and transportation of methamphetamine, argued that he did not commit an aggravated felony for purposes of immigration law and therefore he should not be removed. Finding merit in his arguments, the Ninth Circuit granted his petition and remanded the case to the Board of Immigration Appeals for further proceedings.
