United States Ninth Circuit

US v. Juvenile Male, 17-10257

Vacated the imposition of a 34-month term of official detention following revocation of an individual's juvenile delinquent supervision. The young man, now over 21 years old, argued that his term of official detention exceeded the statutory maximum established in the Federal Juvenile Delinquency Act, given the amount of time he had already served. Agreeing, the Ninth Circuit vacated his sentence and remanded with instructions that the district court order his immediate release.
