United States Ninth Circuit
US v. Sleugh, 17-10424
Affirmed that a criminal defendant was not permitted to obtain access to a codefendant's subpoena applications seeking cell phone records and surveillance video. Although the defendant wanted to know more about the documents his codefendant had applied to subpoena from others, the Ninth Circuit concluded that he did not demonstrate any special need for these materials, and further, that there was a continuing need to seal them.
