United States Ninth Circuit

French v. Jones, 15-35990

Affirming the district court's summary judgment in the case of a Montana judicial candidate who alleged that the state's campaign-speech rule, prohibiting judicial candidates from seeking, accepting, or using political endorsements, violated his First Amendment rights because Montana has a compelling interest in an impartial and independent judiciary and the rule is narrowly tailored to those interests.
