Remanding the appeal of a district court dismissal of claims for relief in a federal habeas corpus petition filed by a man on California's death row because although he petitioner had previously waived claims by means of a handwritten pro se filing there was not enough evidence that this waiver was knowing, voluntary, and intelligent.
