United States Ninth Circuit

Carrillo-Carrillo v. Coursey, 14-35897

Dismissal of state prisoner's federal petition for habeas corpus relief from sentence and conviction for no contest plea to racketeering, is reversed where petitioner fairly presented to the state courts his claims that trial counsel rendered ineffective assistance by unduly pressuring him into accepting a no contest plea and that his decision to enter the plea and waive his right to a jury trial was not knowingly and voluntarily made.
