In criminal appeal, the district court's finding that defendant was incompetent to stand trial and order committing him to a federal medical center for evaluation is affirmed where: 1) a person whose competence to stand trial is in question cannot legally waive his right to counsel; and 2) court-appointed amicus counsel satisfied the right to counsel requirement by providing meaningful adversarial testing to the prosecution's case.
