United States Ninth Circuit

US v. Ortiz, 13-30361

Conviction for conspiracy to distribute large amounts of methamphetamine and heroin, and possession of heroin with intent to distribute is affirmed where the district court did not abuse its discretion in admitting the opinion testimony of defendant's probation officer, identifying the defendant's voice speaking primarily in Spanish on wiretapped calls, even though the probation officer did not speak Spanish and had only heard defendant speak in English.
