United States Ninth Circuit
Maciel v. Cates, 11-56620
The district court properly denied a habeas corpus petition challenging a parole term and sex-offender registration requirement imposed under California state law that were not part of the criminal judgment, where: 1) the parole challenge was moot because petitioner is no longer on parole; and 2) the sex-offender registration was neither contrary to nor an unreasonable application of clearly established federal law.
