In a 42 U.S.C. section 1983 suit filed by a detective against his employer, the police department and others, claiming that his placement on administrative leave was unconstitutional retaliation for the exercise of his First Amendment rights, district court's dismissal of the suit is affirmed, as under Hippert v. City of Pittsburgh, 574 F.3d 696 (9th Cir. 2009), plaintiff's disclosure of the alleged use of abusive interrogation tactics by his colleagues to the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department was made in the course of his official duties, and thus falls outside the protection offered by the First Amendment.
