United States Ninth Circuit
In re Midland Ins. Life Ins. Co Annuity Sales Practices Litig., 11-55369
District court's order denying an intervenor's motion to unseal judicial records in an underlying class action cases involving claims for RICO violations and violations of state law based on the marketing and sales of annuity products to senior citizens, is reversed and remanded, as the records should be made public once the parties are permitted to redact sensitive information, because the judicial records at issue were submitted to the court in connection with pending motions for summary judgment, and because neither the plaintiffs nor the district court have identified any compelling reasons to keep the records sealed.
