United States Ninth Circuit

US v. Kortlander, 10-30222

In an appeal from a judgment of the district court granting defendant restricted access to warrant materials after the termination of subject investigation, judgment is reversed where: 1) the public has a qualified common law right of access to such materials; and 2) the court erred by granting defendant only restricted access without articulating a compelling reason for its ruling or making specific factual findings.
