United States Ninth Circuit

In re: Estate of Ferdinand E. Marcos Human Rights Litig., 06-16301

In a proceeding brought to extend a prior judgment in multidistrict litigation against Ferdinand Marcos and his estate so that an enforcement action in another district could proceed, orders denying intervention to the party against whom collection was sought are reversed, and an order granting the extension is vacated, where: 1) the party against whom enforcement was sought had a significant protectable interest at stake that gave it the right to be heard in the extension proceeding, and to appeal; and 2) the district court erred in extending the judgment pursuant to a request that was not made within ten years after the original judgment was rendered.
