United States Ninth Circuit

US v. Corona-Verbera, 06-10538

A conviction and consecutive sentences imposed for drug-related offenses is affirmed over claims of error regarding whether: 1) a nearly five-year delay between events giving rise to the indictment and the return of the indictment constituted a due process violation; 2) in spite of a nearly eight-year delay between the indictment and arrest, the government was diligent in searching for defendant and bringing him to trial; 3) there was sufficient evidence to convict defendant; and 4) the sentences were unreasonable.
