United States Ninth Circuit
US v. Lopez, 06-10062
Convictions and sentence for possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking offense are affirmed over claims that: 1) insufficient evidence supported the convictions; 2) the district court plainly erred by failing to provide the meaning of the term "in furtherance" to the jury; 3) the district court abused its discretion when it denied his motion to sever; and 4) a mandatory minimum sentence imposed violated his Sixth Amendment rights.
