United States Ninth Circuit
Pebble Beach Co. v. Caddy, 04-15577
Denial of a request for additional discovery and dismissal for lack of jurisdiction of a golf course resort's infringement and dilution complaint against the owner of a small-business called "Pebble Beach" in England is affirmed where: 1) the district court correctly found that it lacked personal jurisdiction as defendant did not expressly aim his conduct at California or the United States; and 2) the denial of the motion for additional discovery was a proper exercise of discretion.
