BONNICHSEN v. US, 02-35994, 02-35996

Because Kennewick Man's 9,000-year-old remains have not been shown to be related to a presently existing tribe, people or culture, they are not "Native American" for purposes of the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act. Plaintiffs-scientists may proceed to study the remains pursuant to the Archaeological Resources Protection Act.
