United States Eighth Circuit
US v. Jones, 09-2945
Defendants' sentences for possession of a sawed-off shotgun, and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number, are affirmed where: 1) the district court did not abuse its discretion in considering criminal history not accounted for in defendant's criminal history category; 2) conduct resulting in an enhancement for obstruction of justice indicated that the defendant has not accepted responsibility for his criminal conduct; and 3) the nature of the crime and its effect on the victims justified strong punishment.
