United States Eighth Circuit
Purwantono v. Gonzales, 06-2083
Petition for review of a denial of Muslim Indonesian native's application for asylum and withholding of removal is denied insofar as the court had jurisdiction over the claims as: 1) the court lacked jurisdiction to review a determination that the asylum application was untimely; 2) an argument, that the statutory time limit on applications for asylum cannot be enforced because it conflicts with the United Nations Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees, is meritless; 3) substantial evidence supported an IJ's rejection of a claim for withholding of removal; and 4) substantial evidence supported denying a CAT claim.
