United States Eighth Circuit

US v. Thomas, 06-3055

A conviction and sentence for being a felon in possession of a firearm and possessing a firearm with an obliterated serial number is affirmed where: 1) there was sufficient evidence to support a conclusion that defendant possessed a handgun and constructively possessed a shotgun; 2) the district court properly found that a 1991 Missouri state conviction for tampering in the first degree was a crime of violence under the sentencing guidelines; 3) there was no error in a finding that he possessed a firearm in connection with another felony offense; and 4) the sentence imposed was not unreasonable.
