United States Seventh Circuit

US v. Garcia, 18-1735

Reversed a drug-trafficking conviction due to insufficient evidence. Held that the prosecution's evidence consisting of several cryptic intercepted phone calls simply was not enough to support a verdict of guilty beyond a reasonable doubt for distributing cocaine. The trial judge should have granted defense motions for judgment of acquittal.
