United States Seventh Circuit

Ameren Illinois Co. v. International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local Union 51, 18‐1591

Upheld an arbitrator's decision that an employee should not have been fired for storing a firearm in his parked vehicle, because Illinois' concealed-carry statute gave him the right to keep a gun there unless certain signs were posted in the company's parking lot, which was not the case. Reversed the district court's summary judgment ruling, which had held that external law could not contradict the terms of the collective-bargaining agreement here.
