United States Seventh Circuit
US v. Abbas, 07-3866
Sentence for impersonating an FBI officer and making false statements is affirmed where: 1) the court committed sentencing error in applying the sentencing guideline for extortion under color of official light and thus miscalculating the guidelines range; 2) the sentencing error was harmless as the sentencing judge expressly stated that she would have imposed the same sentence even if the sentencing guideline did not apply to the defendant's sentence; and 3) defendant's sentence was not unreasonable.
