United States Seventh Circuit

Adelman-Reyes v. Saint Xavier Univ., 06-2284

In a suit alleging that defendant-university denied plaintiff tenure because of her religion and that the head of her department tortiously interfered with her prospective employment by writing a negative tenure recommendation letter, summary judgment for defendants is affirmed where: 1) plaintiff's evidence was too weak to permit a reasonable factfinder to conclude that the reason she was denied tenure was a cover for religious discrimination; and 2) plaintiff produced no evidence from which a reasonable juror could infer that the department head was acting recklessly or with a direct intent to injure her.
