US v. Fife, 06-2037

Sentences imposed on a husband and wife for filing false income tax returns are affirmed where: 1) the husband occupied a position of trust as the special assistant to the mayor of East Chicago, and his abuse of that position significantly aided him in committing and concealing his tax evasion; and 2) the couple's creation of shell corporations to conceal payments received qualified as sophisticated means for enhancement purposes.
