United States Seventh Circuit

Valentine v. City of Chicago, 05-2688

Summary judgment for defendants in a suit by a female city employee for Title VII and Equal Protection violations is reversed where issues of fact existed concerning: 1) whether plaintiff's supervisor was on notice of sexual harassment; 2) existence of a hostile work environment; and 3) intent of a supervisor to condone harassment. The decision is affirmed where one supervisor was not on notice of the harassment and there was no widespread city practice that encourage harassment.
