United States Seventh Circuit

Gjeci v. Gonzales, 05-1153

Petition for review of asylum denial is granted on due process grounds and the matter remanded where the withdrawal of the alien's attorney, coupled with her retention of the alien's documents and the IJ's refusal to grant a continuance when the alien did not understand the full consequences of the withdrawal, deprived the alien of a fundamentally fair proceeding.
