United States Seventh Circuit

SPEIGHTS v. FRANK, 03-2646

Prisoner's claim that he was denied assistance of counsel was properly rejected. When he dismissed his lawyer to prevent the filing of a no-merit report, he waived any entitlement to appellate counsel; defendants do not have a right to appellate counsel who pretend that frivolous arguments actually are meritorious.
