United States Seventh Circuit

HENDERSON v. BRILEY, 00-3834, 00-3778

Because review under 28 U.S.C. section 2254(d)(1) is severely restricted, the district court judgment conditionally granting prisoner's writ of habeas must be reversed. The Illinois Supreme Court's conclusion that the record as a whole did not compel a finding of intentional discrimination in the use of peremptory challenges is not so unsupported as to be branded "unreasonable."
