United States Seventh Circuit

US v. GENOVA, 02-1602/1650/1914/2053

In city officials' appeals from convictions arising out of bribes and kickbacks in connection with city business, a conviction under Illinois law, 720 ILCS 5/33-3(c), was not a bribery conviction and could not be used as a predicate offense under RICO. Mail fraud and related RICO convictions are affirmed, but cases are remanded for a recalculation of forfeiture amounts.
